7 Mommy Essentials for a Day Out with a Toddler or Young Child

Hi there!! :)  Here are 7 things we CANNOT be without for a peaceful and pleasant outing with our toddler:

1.  Wet Wipes.  I am sure this is the number one necessary item for every mother, from cleaning dirty hands and faces and shopping trolleys, to wiping off boogers, this miracle item is super-uber necessary.

2.  Spare nappies.  No matter where you are, the last thing you want is to sit with a dirty nappy and no spares.  Even if you don't have cream on you, you at least need a nappy.  We actually have some in the car to ensure that we are never anywhere without a spare.

3.  His own phone with Youtube videos and games.  Having his own phone, some random old phone you have lying around in the house, is ideal in order for you to still be able to use yours - trust me, I learned this the hard way.  I have downloaded 3 videos for offline viewing, 1 - 27 minutes of Wheels on the Bus nursery rhyme, 2 - 54 minutes of nursery rhymes and 3 - 71 Minutes of nursery rhymes.  He also has a variety of games, though he mostly prefers the Fisher Price ones.  Many might say that this is unhealthy, but if you are stuck in a queue or traffic and your child is very uncomfortable or the play area is more interesting than his pizza and milkshake, this comes in very handy!! I have made sure that all the videos and games have an educational side to it, and it actually has taught him a few things.

4.  A bottle of water.  My son absolutely LOVES water, so this is his preference when he is thirsty.  However, water is good for more than just drinking, it makes a nice hand rinse when playing with sand or something sticky for which wet wipes won't work, and it is an instant coolant for hot, summer days.

5.  A snack in the form of chips or small cookies.  Many children LOVE to snack on things, but I have noticed that my son prefers something that takes him long to chew on, such as small cookies (of which he can then eat more than one) or chips like Cheese Curls.  I find healthy snacks like cheese (he LOVES the cheese triangles from Laughing Cow) or fruits impractical as they are perishable, can easily squish and ruin in his bag.  Non-perishable snacks are a must for hot summer days.

6.  His favorite toy.  Currently this is a miniature Ferrari he got as a gift last year.  Whenever he gets very upset, this is what he looks for and what will instantly calm him down until we get him sorted, such as when he is hungry or hot or needs his nappy changed.

7.  Something to push him in.  If I know or suspect that we might be somewhere where there aren't any shopping trolleys, we'll be sure to take his stroller with.  Nothing is worse than having to carry a toddler for hours on end.

Thanks for reading!!  I hope you all have a splendid day further, with no surprises :P

Bye bye :)
